NA body for expediting work on Gwadar International Airport

Govt approves Gwadar Free Zone policy By   APP GWADAR:  The parliamentary committee on the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) on Sunday recommended expediting the process of completion of the new Gwadar International Airport and avoid an unnecessary delay in construction work either by Pakistan or China. The committee presided over by its chairman, Sher Ali Arbab, directed that institutional efforts should be expedited so that the Chinese can be asked to meet the given timelines for the project. The meeting was attended by MNAs Mr Sadaqat Ali Abbasi, Noor Alam Khan, Murtaza Javed Abbasi, Zahid Akram Durrani and Muhammad Aslam Bhootani. The chairman observed that the new airport was utmost importance for attracting investors and exploiting the strategic location of Gwadar. Efforts underway to include canal project in CPEC

Published   22 Mar, 2021   07:03am BUREAU REPORT PESHAWAR: The technical and financial evaluation for feasibility study, engineering design and PC-I of the Chashma Right Bank Lift Canal (CRBC) has been completed. During a progress review meeting of the project, Chief Minister Mahmood Khan was informed that once completed the CRBC would prove a game changer for the agriculture sector in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He was told that efforts were underway to include CRBC in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, according to a statement issued here on Sunday. The meeting was informed that projects of Swat Motorway’s phase-II and Dera Ismail Khan Motorway had also been proposed for inclusion in CPEC. The meeting discussed progress so far made on various projects. Provincial Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra, additional chief secretary Shakeel Qadir and administrative secretaries of the departments concerned attended the meeting. This insecurity is rooted in the country’s colonial past and history of subjugation by foreign powers. The China Pakistan Economic Corridor is the flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative launched in May 2013. The total investments of CPEC are worth  $62 billion . Gwadar Sea Port is considered the crown jewel of CPEC and the main focus of this initiative. Projects funded under CPEC are various but the main ones are energy production, mass transit, and the Gwadar Sea Port. Critics of CPEC fail to realize the difference between the political structure of pre-colonial India and modern-day Pakistan and betwee
