22 oil, gas discoveries made, NA told

Sharafat Kazmi Islamabad—Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Syed Naveed Qamar Monday informed National Assembly that a total 59 onshore and offshore exploration wells were drilled in the country from January 2008 onwards. Responding during the question hour session, he said, 22 oil and gas discoveries are made during the period. Out of these 18 are under appraisal, whereas four discoveries have been initially appraised having reserve of 3.27 million barrels of oil and 404 billion cubic feet of gas. He said the government has granted 126 exploration licenses to different companies for exploration of petroleum in Pakistan. Present indigenous production of crude oil is 66,390 barrels per day (BPD) which is processed at local refineries in Pakistan, he added. Cracks in Balochistan govt over provincial autonomy Tuesday, March 16, 2010 By Muhammad Ejaz Khan QUETTA: Differences surfaced in the Balochistan coalition government on Monday when one of its major coalition partners, the JUI-F, backed by the BNP-Awami and the independent legislators, insisted to move the resolution about the provincial autonomy in the assembly, while the ruling PPP members opposed the move, insisting that the resolution would be tabled after the necessary improvement and in the presence of Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani.
