QUETTA: The Balochistan government has launched action against ghost employees in the province.
“We have started action against ghost employees with immediate effect,” Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani said in a statement on Twitter on Sunday.
“In the first phase, information is being collected about ghost employees working in the education and health departments,” he said.
Mr Alyani said the deputy commissioners in all districts of Balochistan had been asked to send lists of ghost employees posted in these two departments to the government immediately.
He said ghost employees would not be tolerated in any government department and an investigation would also be launched in other departments.
The chief minister said his government would also initiate action against the people who had got employment on fake domiciles in various federal and provincial governments on the quota of Balochistan.
Dr Abdul Malik Baloch, during his tenure as chief minister of Balochistan, had officially acknowledged the presence of thousands of ghost employees in the education department and ordered an investigation into the matter.
Former education secretary Tayyab Lehri had taken action against over 2,500 ghost teachers and employees.
Hundreds of ghost employees were also working in the health department.
