Demonstration will be held in Quetta for student leader Zakir Majeed

The mother of Zakir Majeed, former student leader, said on Saturday, “My son Zakir Majeed Baloch has been missing for the last 11 years. We, together with Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, took the path of peaceful protest for the recovery of Zakir Majeed, but today, 11 years have passed and we are not being provided with any information regarding Zakir Majeed.”

Thousands of mothers, sisters, daughters, sons and fathers whose loved ones have been abducted and disappeared by Pakistani forces in Balochistan are bereaved and have been protesting for the recovery of their beloved ones but their plea for justice have fallen into deaf ears and ignored.

She said that it is painful for a mother to endure 11 years of separation from her son. “The mothers of Balochistan have overcome this pain and with this pain, they leave the world. I am also one of these thousands of suffering mothers and have been waiting for my loved son for 11 years.”

Zakir Majeed’s mother appealed to all Human Rights activists to take part in a protest in front of Quetta Press Club on Monday, June 8 for the recovery of Zakir Jan and other missing persons. “Express solidarity and play your part in highlighting the Missing Persons’ case,” she added.

Zakir Majeed’s mother said in her message that she will not be able to participate in the protest in person due to ill health but she hopes that the children, the elderly, mothers and sisters of Balochistan will not forget Zakir Jan and continue to strive for his recovery.

She appealed to all Baloch activists, students and others to join the protest to be the voice of a helpless mother of Balochistan.

Sohrab Baloch, Central Chairman of Baloch Students Organization Azad (BSO Azad), issued a statement on the occasion of Baloch Missing Persons Day, said that extrajudicial arrests of political activists and people in Balochistan are in full swing. Thousands of security forces and other agencies the public has been relocated to an unknown location after extrajudicial arrests, about which no information is being provided to the families.

He added that, The organization had repeatedly issued statements about the missing persons and appealed to them to be produced in the courts. But no political leader and people have been brought to light which is against the constitution of human rights. Sohrab Baloch added that extrajudicial arrest of political leaders and political activists and people is a conspiracy to make Balochistan politically infertile. Zakir Majeed, Din Mohammad, Ghafoor Baloch and many others have been arrested out of court on the basis of their involvement in political activities.

“The extra-judicial arrest of Zakir Majeed has been completed for a long period of 11 years but even after 11 years. Don’t bring them to light It is painful for the family and other loved ones. At the end of his statement”.

Sohrab Baloch said that the organization will launch an awareness campaign on social media to highlight the Missing Persons case globally while with Zakir Majeed’s family the party will hold a protest in front of Quetta Press Club against his 11-year-long enforced disappearance. Express solidarity with peopleAll missing persons including Zakir Majeed should be brought to the court”.

A ‘European Silk Road’

publication_icon Philipp Heimberger ,  Mario Holzner and Artem Kochnev wiiw Research Report No. 430, August 2018  43 pages including 10 Tables and 17 Figures FREE DOWNLOAD The German version can be found  here . In this study we argue for a ‘Big Push’ in infrastructure investments in greater Europe. We propose the building of a European Silk Road, which connects the industrial centres in the west with the populous, but less developed regions in the east of the continent and thereby is meant to generate more growth and employment in the short term as well as in the medium and long term. After its completion, the European Silk Road would extend overland around 11,000 kilometres on a northern route from Lisbon to Uralsk on the Russian-Kazakh border and on a southern route from Milan to Volgograd and Baku. Central parts are the route from Lyon to Moscow in the north and from Milan to Constanţa in the south. The southern route would link Central Europe with the Black Sea area and
