HRCB’s website banned in Pakistan

Current Balochistan

Offical website of a Baloch Human Rights organisation, Human Rights Council of Balochistan (Hakkpaan) has been ban in Pakistan.

According to statement relased by the HRCB, Our website has been banned in Pakistan. When you try to access it, a notice appears that reads: “Surf Safely! The site you are trying to access contains content that is prohibited for viewership from within Pakistan.”

“We are unable to understand the reason for the ban as we have made clear on quite a few occasions that we are not a party to the war in Balochistan. We are a human rights organisation and report cases fairly and without bias. This action by the Pakistani authorities is concerning and we fear that after banning our website, they might now target our volunteers and office-bearers who are living in the country” Statment read.

Human Rights Council of Balochistan (Hakkpaan) is a non-profit and non-partisan human rights group bases in Balochistan, Sweden, UK and France. It collects reports from Balochistan, a region Pakistan government does not allow any media and HR group to visit and report.

Human rights violations in Balochistan is not a new phenomenon, but it got its worst levels after the Military coup de tat of Pakistan in 1999. Thousands of Baloch have been reported missing, hundreds killed in fake encounters and so-called kill and dump policy of the military.

HRCB collects the data from Balochistan itself, through its network of volunteers and supporters, organizes and reports them to the human rights mechanisms of the world.

Pakistan has blocked access to websites. At the end of 2011, the PTA claims, they had officially banned more than 1,000 websites in Pakistan

Historical relationship between Kurd and Baloch.

The Kurds are the ethnical group living in a region known as Kurdistan which is divided into Iraq, Syria, Turkey and Iran. They  are struggling for an independent region since decades and they are famous for their female guerrilla fighters.        On 25 September 2017, the referendum for an independent Kurdish region  was held in Iraq with a turn out of 72 %.   On this important occasion, the historical relation between Kurd and Baloch people is worth discussing.       When it comes to history, every nation tends to find its roots and origin. Same goes with the Baloch people. The Baloch people are always curious  about  finding their roots in history. Even if you  talk to a shepherd in Balochistan, he will be curious to talk about his  tribal or ethnical roots.      The Balochs have always conveyed the history to the next generations in different mediums like poems etc. No Baloch before 20th century had written books on  history  or origin of the Baloch nation .
