Participants call for safety measures and the extension of the Karachi-Quetta-Chaman highway
HUB: The Balochistan Youth and Civil Society (BYCS) on Sunday organised a rally in Winder against the increasing road accidents on the Karachi-Quetta-Chaman highway.
The participants called for safety measures and the extension of the highway.
BYCS President Najeeb Yusuf Zahri and Baloch Asif Zahri led the rally and welcomed the participants of a long march from Karachi Press Club to Quetta.
Joined by members of the National Party, the participants in the form of a procession reached the Winder Press Club, where members of civil society led by their head Abdul Sattar and others addressed a ceremony.
They demanded the safety of the passengers using the Karachi-Chaman-Quetta highway on which several citizens had lost their lives in traffic accidents.
They said the national highway should have two tracks like the highways in the rest of the country.
National Party District General Secretary Comrade Salim Baloch, Winder Civil Society’s Abdul Sattar Angaria, Zafar Zaib of the BSO, journalist Ashraf Baloch, Haq Nawaz, Abdul Karim Angaria, Amin Ronja and others maintained that the national highways of Balochistan had turned into death traps.
They said there had been several claims about development under CPEC and Gwadar but that no practical measures were being taken to facilitate the people of Balochistan.
