‘CPEC to create 800,000 new jobs’

NAWABSHAH: A seminar was held at the Govt Girls Degree College here on Tuesday to highlight the benefits of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project. Ali Hyder, who is the focal person for the CPEC for Shaheed Benazirabad, Larkana and Sukkur divisions, addressed the seminar. 
Addressing the event, Ali Hyder said: “Those who opposed the CPEC project were now showing interest in joining it. With the completion of this project, the economy would boost and Pakistan would stand in line with the developed countries of the world, providing 800,000 new job opportunities. All the provinces would be benefited from the project; however, Sindh and Balochistan would be slightly more advantaged. Pakistanis living around the world are waiting for the completion of the project; this would also attract people from other countries, including the Khaleej and European countries, for jobs.”

Chinese FM comment on Port Qasim Power plant in Pakistan and Chabhar

Q: Iran has inaugurated the first phase of the Chabahar port on December 3, which is widely regarded as a rival to the Gwadar port being developed by China because of proximity. It also provides a direct way for India to transport goods to Afghanistan. And coinciding with the inauguration, India, Iran and Afghanistan also signed an agreement granting preferential treatment in tariff reductions to Indian goods headed towards Afghanistan. How does China view this?A: We are glad to see regional countries maintain friendly relations and conduct mutually beneficial cooperation. Three CPEC projects hit snags as China mulls new financing rules

The N85 highway, just past Panjgur.—DawnISLAMABAD: China has temporarily stopped funding of some projects particularly those related to the road network under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) till further decision regarding ‘new guidelines’ to be issued from Beijing, a senior government official told Dawn on Monday.The decision could affect over Rs1 trillion road projects of the National Highway Authority (NHA). It was not clear how wide the impact of the delay will be, but initial reports confirm that at least three road projects are going to experience a delay.The projects to be affected include the 210-km Dera Ismail Khan-Zhob Road, at an estimated cost of Rs81 billion. Of this, Rs66bn will be spent on construction of road and Rs15bn on land acquisition. Also the Rs19.76bn 110-km Khuzdar-Basima Road has also been affected.The Rs8.5bn 136-km remaining portion of Karakarom Highway (KKH) from Raikot to Thakot …
