India wants to sabotage CPEC: AJK president

LAHOREAzad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Sardar Masood Khan has said that India has launched a drive to sabotage China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and China and Russia must convince India not to make such efforts to derail the project and realise her benefits of CPEC. Addressing the inaugural session of a two-day international conference “Kashmir in Focus: Avoiding Conflict and Quest for Peace” at Punjab University (PU) here on Tuesday, he said AJ&K was now a part of CPEC project under which power projects and an industrial zone would be set up at different places.Punjab University Pakistan Study Centre (PSC) is organising the conference. Chinese consulate, Sindh University to establish CPEC Research Centre

JAMSHORO: The Chinese Consulate in Karachi and Sindh University Jamshoro have agreed to establish the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Research Centre at the varsity’s Area Study Centre to develop research activities on the campus, as well as strengthen cultural ties between the two countries.According to a statement, Sindh University vice chancellor Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat met Chinese Consul General Wang Yu at the university’s Area Study Centre in Jamshoro on Tuesday.Talking to reporters after the meeting, Dr Burfat said the institution will soon soon introduce Chinese language as an optional subject in all the departments of the varsity. “A Chinese library was the need of the hour that must be setup as well,” he added.Yu said both the countries shared a great deal of cultural similarities

China should ensure Pakistan doesn't face financial crisis

While Pakistan's fast growing economy has made it a darling for foreign investment, the surge in the country's fiscal deficit and public debts has increasingly become a source of concern for international investors and has led to doubts about its capability to repay its debts. Given the massive investment that China has made in the country as part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), China has a vested interest to ensure that the rising fiscal deficit in Pakistan not snowball into a major financial crisis. ISLAMABAD: The government has deployed 15,000 military personnel, as part of the Special Security Division (SSD) and Maritime Security Force (MSF), to protect projects under the umbrella of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).Both forces will work under the interior ministry, in coordination with the provinces, to ensure the safety of locals and foreigners working on CPEC projects.“The SSD is a force that will provide security to 34 CPEC related projects, while the MSF will safeguard the Gwadar port and other coastal areas of the country,” Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on CPEC, told mediamen after a committee meeting in Parliament House on Monday.He said the SSD had been deployed in six zones from Gwadar to Gilgit-Baltistan, including all four provinces and Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK). “…
