Fiji’s trade with China grows by 22%

Fiji’s trade with China has grown by 22 percent over the last five years.
While speaking at the 21st Century Maritime Silroad International Expo in Guangzhou, China, Trade Minister Faiyaz Koya says the trade between Fiji and Guangdong accounts for an average of 25 percent of total trade between Fiji and China.
Koya says the tourist numbers from China, over the last decade has also significantly increased and there is a potential for more tourism from Guangdong Province.
He adds Fiji has benefited from the Road and Belt initiative by the Chinese government and the increased exposure in the Chinese market has resulted in a 500 percent increase in investments from Chinese investors in the past 6 years.
He adds the Chinese investors have increasingly seen the multitude of benefits in investing in Fiji, thus the high trade numbers.
