Baloch seek Sultan Qaboos help to defeat Pak-China plan to take over Gwadar

WASHINGTON DC: An American Baloch organization has sought the help of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said government in Oman to foil the Pakistani and Chinese plans to deny the people of Balochistan the ownership of Gwadar Port, which is regarded as the Jewel of Asia. Gwadar once belonged to Oman and the Baloch are asking the Sultanate of Oman to ask Pakistan and China to cease and desist. The Baloch fear they will be converted into a minority in Gwadar if Islamabad was allowed to go ahead with its development plans in conjunction with China. Pakistan military was said to be planning a massive bloodbath in Balochistan to crush any opposition to Pakistan-China strategic plans for Gwadar. Immediately after his election, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif went to China and offered the Chinese the port of Gwadar in exchange for building a network of bullet trains in Pakistan. However, Baloch resistance and freedom loving groups are resolved to resist Beijing and Islamabad plans and have called upon the United States and N.A.T.O. to intervene in Balochistan, where Pakistan army is allegedly committing crimes against humanity by killing Baloch children. The American Balochs made their request to Oman to intervene through a grassroots organization called the American Friends of Balochistan. It also asked Oman to talk directly with the exiled Baloch leaders in Europe. Following is the text of the message that was sent to the Omani ambassador in Washington, Her Excellency Hunaina Sultan Ahmed Al Mughairy: Greetings from American Balochs to the people and government of the Sultanate of Oman, under His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said. We are writing this to you to draw your attention to certain ominous developments in the Sultanate of Oman’s backyard that will impact upon Oman’s long term security, commercial and national interests in the Arabian Gulf. As you know the port of Gwadar belonged to the Sultanate of Oman until 1958. It is said to have been “purchased” by the military government of Pakistan under Field Marshall Ayub Khan. The Baloch, who are natives of Gwadar, reject Pakistan’s claim on this vital sea port that is their national lifeline and would like to seek the help of the government of the Sultanate of Oman to thwart Pakistan and China’s designs against the interests of not only the Baloch people, but also that of the Sultanate of Oman and the Free World, including the United States. Pakistan has now given the control of Gwadar to China, against the wishes of the Baloch people. We hope your excellency will agree only the Baloch people and their genuine leaders have the right, in consultation with the government of Oman, to determine their strategic partners in the development of Gwadar Port. As you might be knowing overwhelming majority of Baloch people want freedom from Pakistan, which is committing a genocide in Balochistan just like it did in the erstwhile East Pakistan, now Bangladesh, in 1971. The Baloch look upon the government of the Sultanate of Oman to help them in achieving their national aspirations of forming their own free state. Baloch loyalty to Oman is no secret as thousands of Baloch have laid down their lives in the defense of the Sultanate of Oman. Because of Oman’s historic ties with Gwadar and the people of Balochistan, we urge the Sultanate of Oman to ask Pakistan and China to cease and desist from launching any plans in Gwadar against the wishes of the Baloch people, who are resolved to protect the territorial integrity of their national port. The Baloch would rather welcome Oman’s arbitration in the matter, including but not limited to claiming legal ownership of the historic port, as they have full faith in the government of the Sultanate of Oman. As founder of the American Friends of Balochistan, I also urge you to establish immediate contact with the genuine representatives of the Baloch people. These Baloch freedom leaders are His Royal Highness, Shah Baloch the Khan of Kalat – Agha Mir Suleman Daud Khan, Hyrbyair Marri and Javed Mengal, who are based in London, U.K.; Brahumdagh Bugti in Geneva; Mehran Baloch at the European Union in Brussels, Belgium; Kachkol Ali Advocate in Oslo, Norway; Jumma Marri in Moscow, among other leading Baloch representatives working for the freedom of Balochistan. These exiled leaders from Balochistan look forward to cementing friendship and brotherly relations with the Sultanate of Oman. The American Friends of Balochistan, Washington DC, a grassroots organization dedicated to the peaceful freedom of Balochistan, is willing to assist you in any ways possible. May the friendship between the people of the Sultanate of Oman and the people of an independent Balochistan prosper further under the able leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
