Govt not sincere in resolving Baloch issues, claims Talal

ISLMAABAD: Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) chief Talal Bugti, who on Monday met Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, on Tuesday claimed in loud words that the PPP-led government was not sincere in resolving the issues of Balochistan which may ultimately push its people against the wall. “The law-enforcement agencies are particularly targeting the Bugti people in continuing armed operations in Balochistan, and the Centre will have to change its policies lest we should join the armed struggle,” Bugti told The News here.

The JWP president maintained that Prime Minister Gilani had no clear answer to questions, including progress on Nawab Akbar Bugti’s assassination, security personnel’s actions and how to remove the sense of deprivation among Baloch.

President Asif Ali Zardari, due to closure of the roads in Quetta, a poor woman gave a birth in an auto rickshaw. The situation in Balochistan will not be any different if the president would not have visited, but thanks to the media’s ambivalent relationship with the president, they highlighted and debated the issue at length to disparage Mr Zardari.

Though, fortuitously, this impecunious woman survived, there are hundreds of unfortunate women in the province who lose their lives simply because of natal complications and lack of maternal healthcare facilities.
